When Stephanie gave me her cotton gypsy skirt, I saw the colour and quality of cotton were great, but the length and feel were outdated.
While I’d have made a dress-cum-cape for myself, Â I knew Stephanie would want something more practical.
I shortened the hem, and created diagonal tucks to create an interesting design while also reducing the bulk.
With the leftover hem, I made a frilly cumber-bun; it is a bit much for Steph, but I thought she might have an occasion to fancy up the skirt for a night on the town.
